“INDI earns commission, NDA on mission”: PM Modi flays Oppn bloc in Saharanpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a vigorous attack on the Opposition regarding corruption and integrity in public life, stating that while their sole focus is on taking cuts and ‘commission’, the BJP-led NDA is driven by a ‘mission’. Speaking at a public rally in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, PM Modi emphasized, “The leaders in the INDI alliance are always seeking opportunities for commissions, while we, in the NDA, are dedicated to a mission to propel the country forward.” He highlighted the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a mission undertaken by the NDA, contrasting it with the Congress’s emphasis on commission during its tenure at the Centre.

PM Modi also criticized the Opposition over Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shakti’ remark, expressing disappointment that leaders in the Opposition alliance were opposing ‘Shakti’, which symbolizes women’s power. He underscored the significance of ‘Shakti’ in Indian culture and warned against going against it, citing historical consequences.

Reflecting on his visit to Saharanpur a decade ago, PM Modi recalled the country’s state of despair and crisis at the time. He pledged to uplift the nation from its challenges, promising to never let its pride falter. PM Modi expressed gratitude for the support he received from the people and reiterated his commitment to transforming despair into hope and hope into faith.

Saharanpur, along with seven other constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, will participate in the first phase of the general elections on April 19. Uttar Pradesh, being the most populous state with 80 Lok Sabha seats, will vote across seven phases. In the 2019 elections, the BJP and its ally Apna Dal (S) secured 64 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, while the SP-BSP ‘Mahagatbandhan’ managed only 15 seats. Vote counting for all 543 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled for June 4.
