India will commemorate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025. The famous Red Fort in New Delhi will host the major ceremony. The event will involve a Guard of Honour, flag hoisting, a 21-gun salute, and the Prime Minister’s national address.
The celebrations will see the participation of top dignitaries, senior officials, and the Armed Forces. The day will reflect the country’s pride, tradition, and unity.
The ceremonial schedule will begin early in the morning. At 06:50 hrs, the Guard of Honour will form up at the Red Fort.

At 06:55, the Defence Secretary will arrive and proceed to the Rampart’s base. Between 06:56 and 7:00 AM, the Chief of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) will arrive.
At 07:05 hrs, the Raksha Rajya Mantri (RRM) will reach the venue, followed by the Raksha Mantri (RM) at 07:11 hrs.
Prime Minister’s Arrival at Lahore Gate
The Prime Minister will arrive at Lahore Gate at 07:18 hrs. The RM, RRM, and Defence Secretary will receive him. The Defence Secretary will introduce the GOC Delhi Area to the PM.
The PM, accompanied by the GOC Delhi Area, will proceed to the saluting base to inspect the Guard of Honour.

The Guard Commander will lead the PM for the inspection. After the inspection, the PM and GOC will proceed towards the Rampart via lift or stairs. The Defence Secretary will join them.
At the Rampart, the RM, RRM, CDS, and Service Chiefs will receive the PM. The PM will then move to the rostrum with the GOC Delhi Area. The other dignitaries will take their seats.
Flag Hoisting and National Salute
At 07:30 hrs, the PM will unfurl the National Flag. The Guards will present the National Salute as the band plays the National Anthem. A 21-gun salute will mark the occasion.
Helicopters of the Indian Air Force will shower flower petals on the invitees. The Guard will then disperse. At 07:33 hrs, the PM will deliver the Address to the Nation. After the speech, the National Anthem will play again. Balloons will be released to mark the celebration.
The PM will then leave the dais. The RM, RRM, CDS, and Service Chiefs will escort him to the stairs of the Rampart. The PM, along with the Defence Secretary and GOC, will exit via the well of the Red Fort before departure.
The Independence Day 2025 celebrations will showcase the country’s unity and heritage. From the arrival of dignitaries to the flag hoisting and the PM’s address, every step will honour India’s freedom. The event will inspire citizens to uphold the values of independence and democracy.
