Independence Day 2024: PM Modi urges non-political youth to fight nepotism

In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned nepotism and called for a political landscape free from dynastic rule, urging the inclusion of one lakh youth without political legacies into the country’s political system. Speaking from the Red Fort, Modi emphasized that India’s democracy is being weakened by the “evils of nepotism and casteism” and called for fresh blood to rejuvenate the nation’s politics.

Modi criticized those who cannot tolerate India’s progress unless it benefits them, accusing them of wanting anarchy. He also highlighted the significant reforms implemented by his government over the past decade, which he said have instilled greater self-confidence in the youth, allowing them to take giant leaps toward new achievements.

The Prime Minister underscored the need to work towards making India a developed nation by 2047. He drew a parallel between the 40 crore Indians who fought for independence and the potential of 140 crore citizens today to achieve a Viksit Bharat (developed India).

Modi also pushed for major agricultural reforms, advocating for organic farming and positioning India as a global leader in organic food production. He praised farmers for adopting organic practices and emphasized the government’s efforts to support them through loans, technology, and market valuation of their produce.

Dressed in a white kurta, blue vest, and a traditional multicolored safa, Modi marked his 11th Independence Day address from the Red Fort, making him the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to reach this milestone. The theme for this year’s Independence Day was ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ reflecting the government’s commitment to transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
