Nine personnel were critically injured on Friday when a fire broke out in the Quality Control Division of the civic body in Bengaluru.

According to Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, the incident would be looked into. Additionally, a FIR was filed.

The event took place between 5 and 5.30 p.m., according to Tushar Giri Nath, chief commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

“I was in the office, there was a power failure. Then I got to know that a fire broke out in a building behind our office. When I reached there, I saw huge fire raging from the building. The incident caused enormous loss. Those who were working around there got injured. They were taken to hospital immediately,” he said.

Prior to being transferred to the burns unit of the Victoria Government Hospital, the injured were taken to the neighbouring Saint Martha’s Hospital for emergency care.

According to Nath, nine engineers—including the chief engineer—have reportedly been hurt. He didn’t go into detail about their health, though.

In answer to the question about the material damage, the BBMP chief replied that it would be divulged later.

A judicial probe into alleged irregularities in the BBMP during the previous BJP administration was demanded by the state’s Congress-led government a few days prior to the occurrence.

In addition to the judicial probe, the alleged irregularities in the civic agency were the focus of four committees led by IAS officers that were established by Bengaluru Development portfolio bearer and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar.

Inquiries concerning the injured patients’ health were made during a visit to Victoria Hospital by Siddaramaiah, his deputy, and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

According to the sources, he added that Nath has been given authority to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to him, the victims have hand and face injuries.

The victims have burn wounds that are over 30% burnt, as per the doctors, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tells to the reporters, insisting that they will heal soon, he expressed his optimism.
