The weather department IMD issued a red alert for central Maharashtra’s ghat areas (extreme heavy rain) till July 16.
This alert comes around the time, when Maharashtrian cities like Mumbai, along with its neighbouring districts Thane, Palghar and Raigad have just witnessed heavy rain.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts on saturday and sunday.
As per IMD, extreme heavy monsoon is predicted for Goa, Gujarat region and Konkan till July 16. Coastal and south interior Karnataka will witness heavy rainfall on July 14-15. As for Saurashtra and Kutch, the rainfall will occur on July 16 & 17.
Coming to Northeast and eastern region of India, in the next upcoming 5 days, light to moderate monsoon accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is predicted.
Heavy monsoon is predicted at remote places in Odisha (July 13-17), Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur (July 13-16), Bihar (July 13 & 14) and sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (July 13-15).
As for Northwest India, scattered monsoon is expected at J&k, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and west Rajasthan in the upcoming 5 days.
