In a state often criticized for songs promoting hooliganism, a new wave of change is sweeping through Haryana, with the Haryanavi singers were holding the baton against the drug menace. The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) has recently launched an innovative campaign, the #Nasha Mukt Nayaab Jeevan Bucket Challenge, enlisting popular Haryanvi singers to raise awareness against drug abuse.
The campaign, already praised for its relevance, aims to draw a clear distinction between the on-screen personas of artists—often glamorizing drugs and violence—and their real-life responsibility to promote a healthy, drug-free society. As part of the campaign, the bureau has collaborated with Haryanvi singers, social media influencers, and Bollywood stars to spread its message. Singer Masoom Sharma, who is dominating the social media has already joined the anti-drug bucket challenge, sharing his pledge to support the cause.
In a further push, the bureau unveiled a powerful poem, Rise Above, Go Beyond, as part of its Chakravyuh initiative. Released at DAV Police Public School in Ambala, the poem encourages young minds to reject drugs, stay away from gang culture, and focus on mastering life skills. HSNCB has urged schools across the state to incorporate the poem into their curriculum, inspiring students to engage with its uplifting message. “Music and popular culture are powerful tools for shaping societal values. Through this challenge, we aim to show the contrast between an artist’s commercial work and their real-life stance as responsible citizens,” said OP Singh, Director General of HSNCB.
The campaign also includes video messages from cultural influencers, cautioning youth about the dangers of drug abuse. “By challenging singers and public figures, we are holding them accountable for their influence while ensuring they contribute positively to society,” he added. With the drug menace spreading roots in the state, especially in the districts located on Haryana and Punjab borders, this unique approach is already creating a buzz in Haryana, where the campaign has struck a chord with people, particularly the youth.
