Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress of operating a rampant “scam industry,” lamenting the decline of Howrah from its erstwhile status as an industrial centre to a landscape of shuttered factories.
Addressing a public gathering in Howrah, PM Modi highlighted TMC’s purported specialization in corruption, contrasting it with other parties within the INDI Alliance who allegedly engage in clandestine malpractice. He criticized TMC for openly engaging in corrupt practices, branding it as anti-women and anti-SC/ST.
PM Modi emphasized TMC’s desperate measures to retain their vote bank, contrasting it with the BJP government’s commitment to the welfare of marginalized communities, particularly the SCs. He underscored the substantial increase in the budget allocation for SC welfare under the BJP-led central government compared to the previous Congress regime.
Highlighting a shift in political dynamics, PM Modi asserted his government’s proactive approach to reaching out to citizens, contrasting it with past regimes’ indifference. He accused both TMC and Left parties of contributing to Bengal’s decline, specifically referencing Howrah’s transformation from an industrial hub to a dormant zone under their rule.
PM Modi expressed concern over the struggling state of the readymade garment sector in Howrah, attributing its plight to the policies of successive governments, namely the Left and then the TMC.
