Step 1: Register and Fill the Tatkaal Passport Application Online

The first step is to visit the Passport Seva Portal the official platform for all passport-related services in India.

  3. Select the type of service: Fresh Passport or Re-issue of Passport.

  4. Choose the Tatkaal category for fast-track processing.

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

To apply for a Tatkaal passport, you need valid proof of identity, address, and date of birth.

For adults (18 years and above) – Any three of these documents:

  • Aadhaar Card or e-Aadhaar

  • PAN Card

  • Voter ID

  • Driving License

  • Passport-size photographs

  • Birth Certificate

  • Ration Card

For minors (below 18 years) – Any two of the above documents.

Step 3: Pay Tatkaal Passport Fees

Tatkaal passports cost more than regular ones. Approximate fees are:

  • 36-page passport booklet: ₹3,500

  • 60-page passport booklet: ₹4,500

Fees for minors vary depending on age and booklet size. Payments can be made online through the Passport Seva Portal or at the PSK during your appointment.

Step 4: Schedule and Attend Your Appointment

After submitting the application online:

  1. Schedule an appointment at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra.

  2. Visit the PSK with all original documents on your chosen date.

  3. Undergo biometric verification, including fingerprints and photographs.

  4. Complete the payment if not done online.

  5. Receive an acknowledgment slip with an application number for tracking.

Step 5: Track Your Tatkaal Passport

You can track your application status online using the application number provided at the PSK. After verification and processing, your passport will be delivered to your address. Note that police verification may still be conducted either before or after passport issuance, depending on your local jurisdiction.
