The capital city of India, Delhi, is set to redefine its recreational landscape with the launch of its first-ever hot air balloon today (29 November 2025) rides along the rejuvenated Yamuna riverfront.

Spearheaded by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under the Yamuna Riverfront Activation initiative, this new aerial adventure will officially open to the public this Saturday at 4:30 PM from Asita Park.

The introduction of tethered balloon rides which remain secured to the ground by ropes for stability marks a significant lifestyle upgrade for a city primarily known for its historical monuments and bustling urban life.

Following a successful trial run at the emerging green zone, Baansera Park near Sarai Kale Khan, Lt. Governor VK Saxena expressed satisfaction with the experience and the robust safety measures in place, noting that the balloons can reach a height of approximately 120 feet.

Hot Air Balloon Ride (Delhi): Key Details

This novel attraction offers residents a panoramic, cinematic view of the green floodplains of the Yamuna, an experience previously unavailable in the city.

The operational window is limited to the stable winter months between November and February, with daily flights running for about four hours depending on favourable weather conditions.

The DDA has finalised four locations for the facility:

  1. Asita (Yamuna riverfront) — launching this Saturday
  2. Baansera Park (near Sarai Kale Khan)
  3. Yamuna Sports Complex
  4. Commonwealth Games Village Sports Complex

The attraction will be available only during the winter season due to stable wind conditions. Flights will run daily for limited hours, subject to weather.

The Sarai Kale Khan Nizamuddin Metro Station on the Pink Line provides excellent connectivity, linking Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The station serves as a major intermodal hub, directly connecting the Delhi Metro network with the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, making the new aerial experience easily accessible for visitors across Delhi and the NCR.
