Hooda versus S-R-K in Haryana: a battle CM and dominance in the Congress

Ahead of forthcoming assembly and parliamentary polls in Haryana, all political factions are on their toes bid to woo the voters as well as strengthen their position. All parties in the state are engaged in election preparations. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) are going up against Opposition parties to gain ground and prove their mettle in the state. The main Opposition, the Congress which has been in exile from power for nearly nine years, has sped up its campaigning across the state.
However, despite continuous efforts, the Congress’ high command has failed to end an ongoing feud within the Haryana unit, which has harmed the party. With ongoing in-fighting, Congress bigwigs are leaving no stone unturned to position themselves as the CM candidate, which has emerged as the main reason behind the tensions. Former two-time CM Bhupender Singh Hooda is the dominating leader in the party while other leaders namely Selja Kumari, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary who have gone head to head against each other have now joined hands to try and weaken Hooda’s position. Selja, Randeep and Kiran (or SRK) are now making efforts to challenge Hooda’s stronghold in the party. However, this is not a cakewalk as Hooda has a stronghold across the state.
The war between the heavyweights in Congress is most likely to cause damage to the party in case the scenario remains unchanged. The three have come to a mutual understanding to some extent, putting aside their differences and constantly taking on Hooda, stating that the party’s high command is the supreme and sole authority to take the final call pertaining to the CM candidate. It is believed that SRK have reached a mutual consensus that weakening Hooda’s position in the party should be their priority; the remaining issues between them will be sorted out later on. Political experts are of the opinion that weakening Hooda’s hold in the party will not be less than an uphill task for them as most of the party legislators have extended support to him. Apart from aforesaid, both factions are constantly trying to strengthen themselves in each other’s bastion ahead of assembly and Lok Sabha polls. Hooda’s programme, “Vipaksh Aapke Samaksh ‘’ conducted recently in Bhiwani—Kiran Chaudhary’s hometurf, is being considered the part of afromentioned strategy. The opposing trio will share the stage together at an event in Sirsa later this month. Apart from this, it is also evident that all factions will try their best to get their supporters tickets in the upcoming polls.
