‘High voter turnout in West Tripura shows people support to BJP’ says CM Manik Saha

Following the conclusion of the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 19, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha asserted that voters in the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency had expressed their backing for the BJP, citing the notable voter turnout in the area. Saha also anticipated a higher voter participation in the upcoming polls for the East Tripura LS Constituency, scheduled for April 26.

Remarkably, the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency witnessed an approximately 81 percent voter turnout during the April 19 polls. Saha remarked, “I have just said to people that with the voting percentage of 81 per cent in West Tripura LS Constituency, People of Tripura have shown their support to BJP and PM Modi. I hope that East Tripura LS Constituency seat will get more percentage on the voting day of 26th April.”

Furthermore, while recalling the Prime Minister’s promises made during his recent visit to the state, Saha urged, “I request everyone to make PM Modi’s hand much stronger. When PM Narendra Modi came to Tripura a few days ago, he said that after ten years this is Just a trailer, the picture is still left. I am hoping that PM Narendra Modi will work in Tripura through Act East policy in the same way as he worked in the whole country in the last two terms.”

Previously, Saha expressed contentment with the voter turnout and highlighted the festive ambiance surrounding the electoral process. He praised the Election Commission for its readiness to promptly address any grievances, ensuring a smooth and transparent polling experience for all citizens. Saha encouraged voters to prioritize development, peace, and unity while casting their ballots, stressing the importance of supporting candidates dedicated to societal advancement.

The first phase of Lok Sabha polls occurred on April 19, with the remaining six phases scheduled on different dates until June 1 to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The results are slated to be announced on June 4.
