Delhi experienced heavy downpours on Saturday morning, causing waterlogging in several areas and slowing down traffic movement across the city. The rain affected multiple locations in Delhi-NCR, including Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the day in various parts of the capital, warning of very heavy rainfall with lightning and thunderstorms. The alert covers North, West, South, South East, and Central Delhi.

Early in the morning, severe waterlogging was reported at Panchkuian Marg, Minto Road, and Mathura Road, as well as outside Bharat Mandapam’s Gate No. 7, according to ANI.

Alerts in Delhi-NCR and Surrounding Areas

In the Delhi-NCR region, Ghaziabad is under a red alert, while Gautam Buddh Nagar has been placed under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning. The overall forecast suggests partly cloudy skies with light rain and thundershowers later in the day. Temperatures are expected to range between 32–34°C for the maximum and 24–26°C for the minimum.

The IMD also posted on its X handle, predicting moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning across most parts of Delhi and NCR. Light to moderate rainfall with mild thunderstorms and lightning is also expected in Gohana, Sonipat, Rohtak, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, and nearby areas.

Weather Warnings in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh

For Haryana, an orange alert is in place for Palwal, Gurgaon, and Faridabad due to the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has warned of continued rainfall activity over the coming days. An Orange Alert has been issued for August 11 and 12 in three districts, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for the remaining districts, forecasting heavy rain in many parts of the hill state.
