
Telangana announced school holidays, cancelled officials’ leave, and urged preparedness as IMD predicts heavy rains, with Hyderabad schools operating half-day and other districts observing full-day closures.
The Telangana government has announced school holidays in various districts after the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast of heavy rain in some parts of the state.
Schools in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area will be closed for only the morning shift on August 13 and 14, according to the School Education Director's notification issued late Tuesday. Apart from this, all the private schools in Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts will be closed for the entire day.
State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the irrigation department officials to stay alert in their respective posting areas to deal with any possible mishaps. “The leave of all irrigation officials is cancelled for the next four days,” he stated in an official release on Wednesday.

The minister also instructed a close monitoring of all irrigation projects, canals, and tanks. He assured that the officials can contact him on his phone in an emergency or an alarming situation.
Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha asked medical staff and superintendents to stay alert and ready to assist the patients during heavy rainfall during a telephonic conference with health officials.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a meeting with ministers and top officials on Tuesday, where he discussed and reviewed the preparedness measures for 72 hours.

The CM asserted on the need for readiness for any disastrous situation.
He also emphasized the officials to consider work from home for people working in IT companies to reduce traffic on roads. Along with this, the CM also ordered all the government officials to cancel their leave for the coming days.
