On Thursday, at least 50 students from a government primary school in Balasore district, Odisha, fell ill after eating their mid-day meal. The affected students were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Soro for examination and have since been discharged, according to officials.
The incident occurred at Udaynarayan Nodal School in Sirapur, Soro Block, where some students reported nausea and chest pain after discovering a dead lizard in the dal served to them. “All the students are fine now and sent to their homes. I have asked the officials to probe the incident and to submit a report,” said Block Education Officer Narayan Das.
