The Kerala High Court has revoked Dr. Riji John’s appointment as vice chancellor of the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS).
With this, the time since the appointment date shall be null and invalid. On January 23, 2021, Dr. Riji John was chosen to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of KUFOS.
The government’s request for a stay of the order was denied by the High Court.
The High Court also gave the Chancellor instructions to set up a fresh search committee. The court directed that the vice chancellor must be appointed in accordance with UGC guidelines.
On the petition submitted by Drs. KK Vijayan and Sadasivan, the Division Bench, composed of Chief Justice S. Manikumar and Justice Shaji P. Chaly, issued the ruling.
