Haryana on high alert: Avian influenza prevention

An alert has been issued in Haryana regarding the rapidly increasing cases of avian influenza H9N2 virus spreading in the northern region of China. Monitoring of respiratory diseases and pneumonia in children has commenced. The Director-General (DG) of the Health Department has directed all the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the province to review preparedness.

Additionally, they have been instructed to intensify monitoring of pneumonia cases in children and adhere to all instructions issued during the Corona pandemic. After the Union Health Ministry issued an alert, the Haryana government has ordered all CMOs to stay vigilant.

In the order issued by the DG Health, it has been stated that the monitoring of pneumonia cases in children should be increased in all government and private hospitals in the state. Additionally, reports should be continuously sent to the headquarters. Simultaneously, a report should also be submitted to the headquarters after reviewing the arrangements for medicines, oxygen, etc., related to children in the hospitals. It has been emphasized on behalf of the headquarters that there should be no negligence in this matter.

It has been stated on behalf of the central government that the symptoms of influenza infection are very similar to the coronavirus. In such a situation, all the states have been asked to follow the guidelines issued earlier regarding the coronavirus infection. Regarding this, the Director-General of the Health Department, Dr. Sonia Trikha Khullar, mentioned that no case of H9N2 has been confirmed anywhere in the country.

Following the guidelines of the central government, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) across the state have been instructed to remain alert. There is no need to panic. Parents, please take care of your children and contact doctors immediately if fever persists.
