Haryana state minister Sandeep Singh is now fearing potential arrest. Singh has filed an anticipatory bail petition in Chandigarh court in connection with molestation charges filed against him by a junior woman coach. The Chandigarh Police registered a case against the minister under various sections on 31 December 2022, for the same.
On 25 August, Chandigarh Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) presented a challan in the CJM’s court against Haryana Minister Sandeep Singh, accused of sexually assaulting a female junior coach after eight months. The Chandigarh Police has made Sandeep Singh an accused in the case under sections 342, 354, 354A, 354B, 506 and 509 of the IPC.
The victim’s lawyer Dipanshu Bansal said that Chandigarh Police can arrest Singh under Section 354B imposed against him. There is a stipulation of a seven-year punishment under this section. Bansal said that in this case, the victim has also given a complaint of attempted rape against Sandeep Singh, but Chandigarh Police has not added sections 376 and 511 of IPC in the case. Now during framing of charges, there will be debate on adding these sections. The hearing will be held in ACJM Court, Chandigarh. Eight days ago, a notice was sent to the accused on behalf of ACJM Rahul Garg in this case. He has also been provided with a copy of the challan under section 207 of the CrPC. Now the matter will be heard on 16 September. In this, charges will be framed against Sandeep Singh as per the chargesheet. Singh will have to appear in the next hearing of the court.
On 26 December 2022, a junior woman coach filed a complaint with the Chandigarh Police against Haryana Minister Sandeep Singh on charges including sexual harassment. After investigation, the police registered a case against Sandeep Singh under sections 342, 354, 354A, 354B, 506 of IPC at Sector-26 police station at 11 pm on 31st December. After this, a Special Investigation Team was formed to investigate the case under the supervision of DSP East Palak Goyal. After the SIT investigation, police also added IPC section 509 against him.
