In a significant move, Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, announced a full waiver on outstanding property tax and penalties, translating to an approximate benefit of Rs 8000 crore for property owners. Additionally, property owners will receive a 15% rebate on the principal outstanding tax, providing an added relief of about Rs 1200 crore. In efforts to enhance public safety, the Chief Minister disclosed the state’s decision to relocate 33,000 volts (KV) and 11,000 volts (KV) power lines that run over colonies, homes, parks, schools, and other public areas. Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVNL) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVNL) have prepared and received approval for this massive project.
This initiative builds upon the state’s 2016 campaign, where power lines over residences were laid out at a government expense exceeding Rs 112.17 crore. In continuation, the government has allocated Rs 151 crore for a similar campaign, Manohar Lal informed. The proposal encompasses a shifting of high tension lines at 2,707 locations in 10 UHBVN circles with an estimated cost of Rs 96 crore; this includes Rs 78.35 crore for 11,000-volt lines and Rs 17.30 crore for 33 KV lines. Furthermore, relocating lines in 11 DHBVN circles is projected to exceed Rs 55 crore.
