Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests 28 officials

Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests 28 officials

As part of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal’s rigorous anti-corruption campaign, the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau recently executed 20 raids across the state.
This resulted in the arrest of 28 government officials involved in bribery activities. The bribes ranged from Rs 2,000 to Rs 7,00,000. All those apprehended are now facing charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Bureau’s spokesperson divulged that they’ve recommended criminal proceedings against 8 gazetted officers, 21 employees, and 9 private citizens from their findings in four separate inquiries.
From three other probes, 5 gazetted officers and 2 staff members are set to face departmental actions.
In addition, the bureau completed two special investigations, leading to recommended financial recoveries of Rs. 2,34,720 from 4 gazetted officers and 2 employees.
Among those detained for bribery includes:
• Pankaj Sharma, Executive Engineer at Kurukshetra University, apprehended for Rs 1,00,000.
• Doctors from Palwal Civil Hospital: Dr. Shiv Shankar, Dr. Akshay Jain, Dr. Pankaj Khandalwal, and private doctor Dr. Rajkumar, each found with Rs. 38,000.
• Mahendra Singh, the Chief Engineer of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board in Panchkula, for Rs. 35,000.
• Munish Narang and Ravi Barwa from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, Gurugram, found with Rs. 7,00,000.
• Om Prakash, Junior Engineer at Sohna Municipal Council, and Rajinder Singh, Sub-Inspector in Delhi, both caught with Rs. 1,00,000.
• Clerks Rajkumar and Harish from Ambala Cantonment’s Education Office arrested for Rs. 55,000 each.
• Sajjan Kumar, Assistant District Food Officer in Rewari, for Rs. 30,000.
Other officials, ranging from accountants to junior engineers, and even police sub-inspectors, were caught for varying amounts down to Rs 2,000. The extensive operation underlines the state government’s commitment to eradicating corruption.
