Haryana added 3.27 lakh new voters in the list

Haryana continues to witness an acute spurt in population. In this series, it has come to the fore that in the last one year there has been a significant increase in the number of voters in Haryana. Every year the list of voters is updated by the Election Commission of India on January 1 and then after a few days this list is also published. Following the regulations, the updated list was published on January 5, 2023. Haryana has added around 3.27 lakh new voters in the last one year. Taking January 1, as the eligibilty date, the number of voters is pegged 19658234 voters from 19331458 voters on January 1 last year. Hisar district occupies the top position in terms of numbers of assembly seats in the state. Among the present 22 districts, Hisar district has the highest 7 assembly constituencies while Faridabad and Sonipat have 12 seats, 6 each. In continuation to said above Karnal, Jind and Sirsa have 15 seats, 5 seat each, Similarly Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panipat, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh and Gurugram have 40 seats, 4 in each district. There are 12 seats in Fatehabad, Mewat, Rewari and Palwar, 3 each. Likewise Panchkula and Charkhi Dadri have 4 assembly seats, 2 each. In the 90 member state assembly,Badshahpur assembly seat, which falls in Gurugram, is the largest constituency having 429363 voters while Narnaul has the lowest voters. During the Haryana Assembly elections in October 2019, the total electorate in the state was reported to be 1,83,90,525. However, during the May 2019 Lok Sabha polls, this number went up to 1,80,56,896. Out of 22 districts of the state, the maximum number of voters is 16,53,198 in Faridabad while the least number of voters is 40,8020 in Charkhi Dadri district . Ater studying and analyzing the official figures published by from the Election Commission of India Hemant Kumar, an expert and an advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court informed about the subject, that in December 2021 the Election Law (Amendment) Act, 2021 was passed by the Parliament and further was given nod by the President, However, the said law was implemented from August 1, 2022 last year. Along with other amendments in the Representation of the People Act, 1950, it has also been provided that the names of local residents who have completed 18 years of age not only on 1st January but also on 1st April, 1st July and 1st October every year can be included in the voter lists of the concerned area.
