Gurugram Police Orders: No Vehicle To Be Stopped, No Challans At Night

In response to complaints received during nocturnal vehicle inspections, the Gurugram DCP Traffic has issued stringent directives concerning the issuance of challans at night. According to a letter dated May 28 from Deputy Commissioner of Police Virendra Vij, traffic inspectors are instructed not to issue challans to drivers during night time operations unless explicit permission is obtained from higher authorities. This measure aims to prevent undue inconvenience to drivers while ensuring adherence to traffic regulations.

DCP Virendra Vij has emphasized the importance of complying with these directives, warning of severe consequences for officers failing to do so. He stresses that the primary role of night time traffic personnel is to assist and facilitate the safe passage of drivers, particularly during emergencies such as accidents. Despite these efforts, instances of reckless driving persist, necessitating continued vigilance, especially against drunk driving.

Regular campaigns targeting intoxicated drivers are conducted, yet many continue to break traffic regulations, endangering themselves and others. Notably, the order does not exempt officers from taking action against drunk drivers, indicating the authorities’ commitment to public safety.

It’s important to strike a balance between enforcing traffic laws and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced and potential hazards increase. Cooperation between law enforcement and the public is crucial in achieving this balance and maintaining order on Gurugram’s roads.

The directive underscores the commitment of the Gurugram Traffic Police to uphold safety standards while minimizing inconvenience to drivers during nighttime operations. By working together, both law enforcement and the public can contribute to safer roads for all.
