A shocking crime in Gujarat has sent waves across Kutch and beyond. A 19-year-old youth allegedly murdered his friend over jealousy concerning a married woman, then dismembered the body and scattered the parts across different locations. The disturbing details have emerged as police investigate the case.

The accused, identified as Kishore Maheshwari, allegedly killed 22-year-old Ramesh Maheshwari on December 2 after confronting him over an ongoing relationship with a married woman named Anjali. According to authorities, Kishore, consumed by jealousy, acted violently when Ramesh refused to end the affair.

From Argument to Atrocity: How the Murder Unfolded

Police say Kishore invited Ramesh to a get-together at a farm near Nakhatrana. A minor, who is also now detained, accompanied them. At the farm, Kishore demanded that Ramesh break off his relationship with Anjali. When Ramesh refused, Kishore attacked him with a spade, killing him on the spot.

The brutality did not end there. Investigators claim Kishore dismembered the body. He disposed of the head and hands in borewells, buried the torso in a cotton field, burned Ramesh’s clothes, and tried to erase bloodstains by watering the surrounding field. The murder weapon (a spade) was also burnt.

Attempt to Hide the Crime: Failed

After the murder, police allege Kishore tried to mislead investigators and the victim’s family. He sent messages from Ramesh’s phone claiming that “Anjali’s brother” had discovered the affair and was threatening him. This ruse aimed to divert suspicion away from Kishore.

However, under police interrogation, Kishore confessed. He took investigators to the burial sites and revealed the horrific details. Alongside him, a minor — who had helped destroy evidence — has also been detained.

What Led to the Tragedy: A Triangle of Love and Rage

According to the local police, Kishore and Ramesh had both developed feelings for Anjali. While Ramesh maintained a relationship with her, Kishore reportedly proposed to her as well. “Kishor also wanted to pursue a relationship with Anjali,” said West Kutch SP Vikas Sunda. When she informed Ramesh about Kishore’s advances, jealousy consumed him.

The love triangle turned fatal when Kishore confronted Ramesh at the farm. Ramesh’s refusal to comply triggered the violence.

Investigation Underway: Police Seek Justice

Authorities have registered the case and booked Kishore on charges of murder, destruction of evidence, and related offences. They are investigating whether others helped Kishore and whether there were any prior threats or conflicts. The minor’s role and accountability will also be examined separately.

Residents expressed shock at the level of violence. Many demanded strict action, calling for a transparent and speedy investigation. Police say they will follow all leads and bring the accused to justice.

Growing Concern Over Youth Crimes, Honour and Obsession

This case highlights a grim reality: how personal jealousy, obsession over relationships, and perceived honour can lead to extreme violence. Experts say such crimes underscore the need for better awareness, counselling, and mental-health support among youth.

Moreover, the willingness to destroy evidence, mislead authorities, and plan a cover-up shows chilling intent, a warning signal about rising brutality in interpersonal disputes.
