In a significant show of democratic participation, the Gram Panchayat Elections 2024 saw a 77% voter turnout across the state, according to data provided by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officers. The high level of voter engagement highlighted the critical role rural populations play in electing their local representatives.
State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri revealed that Mansa district led with the highest polling percentage at 83.27%, while Tarn Taran recorded the lowest turnout at 64.40%. The commissioner emphasised that despite the variation in turnout rates, the overall voter participation was commendable.

Among other districts, Amritsar registered a 68.12% turnout, Bathinda 79.43%, Barnala 75.21%, and Fatehgarh Sahib 78.47%. Faridkot recorded 70.21%, Ferozepur 75.14%, Fazilka 82.31%, Gurdaspur 69%, Hoshiarpur 69.78%, and Jalandhar 66.30%.
Additional districts also saw substantial voter engagement, with Kapurthala recording 66.14%, Ludhiana 67.1%, Malerkotla 77.22%, Moga 69.91%, SAS Nagar 76.93%, Sri Muktsar Sahib 78.27%, and SBS Nagar 69.52%. Patiala recorded a turnout of 73.57%, Pathankot 79.20%, Ropar 77%, and Sangrur 79.45%.
The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the overall voter response, underscoring the importance of these elections in empowering local governance and promoting active citizen involvement.
