Massive demonstrations erupted on Wednesday as dozens of hopefuls protested in the streets over the cancellation and alleged technical faults in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Phase 13 recruitment test. The protesters, who were mostly students and job aspirants, expressed frustration at repeated bureaucratic errors that have tainted one of India’s largest government hiring processes.
DUSU President Calls Demonstration, Asks Government to be Accountable
The outrage escalated to a peak in the national capital, with Delhi University student leaders at the forefront of the demonstrations. Among the vocal leaders was Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) President Ronak Khatri, who eloquently denounced the charges of mismanagement by the authorities.
“SSC is the biggest exam after UPSC, and our government has failed to conduct it properly. What does this mean for the future of our students?” Khatri said in a video shared by news agency PTI. “How can such large-scale negligence be acceptable in a system meant to ensure fair employment?” he questioned, standing amid a crowd of agitated aspirants holding placards and shouting slogans.

Technical Disasters and Cancellations Taint SSC Phase 13
The SSC Phase 13 recruitment examination, which is to be conducted for filling posts in government ministries and departments, was reportedly marred by software crashes, sudden exam cancellations, and poor infrastructure at various centers. Many students complained that their examinations were cancelled suddenly or had to be rescheduled with short notice.
Social media sites attracted visuals of students demonstrating outside SSC offices and demanding accountability as well. Hashtags #SSCFail, #JusticeForAspirants, and #ReconductSSC13 were trending across platforms, reflecting the magnitude of disgruntlement.
This is not the first time SSC exams have been criticized. In recent years, a number of recruitment cycles have seen either delays, paper leaks, or logistical breakdowns each time raising fears over the credibility and transparency of the process.
Aspirants Demand Action and Reform
Despite the uproar, the SSC and the Ministry of Personnel have yet to release an official statement addressing the situation. Students are now demanding a fresh exam date, improved exam center conditions, and an independent inquiry into the technical failures.
As thousands await clarity, the incident has once again brought to the fore the urgent need for examination reforms and technological upgradation in the competitive exam ecosystem of India, where a single glitch can shatter the hopes of lakhs.
