The DAYALU Yojana, launched by the Haryana Government to provide socio-financial security to families reliant on the Antyodaya Anna Yojana has proven to be a success in the state. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday digitally transferred Rs. 6.36 crore into the accounts of 223 Antyodaya beneficiary families with annual incomes of up to Rs 1.80 lakh in case of death or disability of their family members.
In addition, Chief Minister Khattar directed officials to expand the age category of beneficiaries to ensure that the maximum number of families can be provided for. As per Khattar’s directive, financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh will be given to those between the ages of 25 and 45. Earlier, financial assistance was provided for those between the ages of 25 to 40. As for those between the ages of 45 to 60, the aid provided will amount to Rs 3 lakh, an increase from the earlier amount of Rs 2 lakh. This decision follows Home and Health Minister Anil Vij’s suggestions to increase the amount of assistance being given to those who are above the age of 40. At present, this scheme provides assistance to persons after a disability or the death of a bread-winning family member. The amount varies on the age of the person at the time of the incident. Assitance of Rs. 1 lakh is given to those aged 6 and under while aid worth Rs. 2 lakh is given to individuals between the ages of 6 and 18. Rs. 3 lakh is similarly given to those above the age of 18 years, up to 25. This scheme also includes the amount received under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and other insurance schemes.
CM Khattar said that the state government is committed to the economic and social upliftment of less fortunate citizens. He added that he considers the entire state of Haryana “as his own family.” DAYALU Yojana was launched by the state government as a part of a series of initiatives taken by the state government to provide various kinds of financial relief to families. Under the Yojana, on the basis of the PPP verified data, assistance is provided in case of death or disability (more than 70 percent) in respect of a member of a family having an annual income of upto Rs.1.80 lakh. The Government has established a trust namely Haryana Parivar Suraksha Nyas to consolidate existing insurance schemes, ensure standardized and simplified claims processing and provide direct benefits to the people.
