Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the tragic train accident that occurred in Gonda district on Thursday, July 18. The derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express resulted in the loss of four lives and left several passengers injured. CM Adityanath took to X (formerly Twitter) to convey his condolences and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“I pray to Lord Shri Ram for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Chief Minister stated.
Swift Relief Efforts
In response to the accident, CM Adityanath directed the district administration to carry out relief and rescue operations urgently. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing medical care for the injured and ensuring they receive proper treatment.
“District administration officials have been directed to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing, to prioritize taking the injured to the hospital, and to provide them with proper treatment,” he added.
Details of the Accident
At least four passengers were killed, and several others were injured when several coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed in Gonda district. The exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation. However, railway officials reported that the loco pilot heard an explosion just before the derailment between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations.
Rescue Operations
Senior railway and local administration officials are currently at the scene overseeing the rescue operations. Efforts are focused on ensuring the safety of the passengers and providing immediate medical assistance to those injured.
