The Amritsar Golden Temple on Monday received a bomb threat, after which the Punjab Police initiated a probe.
SGPC Files Complaint Over Threatening Email
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), in its complaint today, stated that the committee received an email threatening a blast in the Golden Temple.
Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar verified receiving a complaint about the bomb threat to Golden Temple and maintained that the police will solve the case and provide security.
Cybercrime Teams Involved in the Probe
“We received a complaint from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) authorities that they have received an email threatening a blast in the Golden Temple…We are taking the help of the state cybercrime and other agencies,” the Police Commissioner told ANI.
“We are hopeful that we will crack the case soon. We are taking this case very seriously. We are ensuring foolproof security. There is no need to get panicked,” Commissioner Bhullar said, adding that the police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
Security Stepped Up Around Temple Complex
Bomb disposal teams, SGPC force and other security personnel have been put on deployment around the temple complex in Amritsar.
The authorities have assured the public that all precautions are being implemented to provide safety and security.
Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar informed that the police have urged people to stay calm and inform the police about any suspicious movement at the earliest.
MP Aujla Demands Strong Action on Threat
Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla called for immediate action on the bomb threat to the Golden Temple, adding that the “security must not be compromised.”
He also requested Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Police to take strong and prompt action.
Aujla Labels Threat as Attack on Humanity
“An email has been received threatening to blow up Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) with RDX. This is not just a threat to a religious site—it’s an attack on peace, faith & humanity. I urge Hon’ble @BhagwantMann Ji & DGP Punjab @DGPPunjabPolice to take IMMEDIATE and STRONG action,” Aujla said in a post on X.
He urged the authorities to stay vigilant, stating that there can be no laxity in the security.
“This is a sacred place of worship visited by lakhs of devotees and tourists daily. Security MUST NOT be compromised. All departments must remain on HIGH ALERT. We cannot afford any lapse in intelligence or protection. We stand united to protect our heritage,” he added.
