Go First extends flight cancellations till 28 May, promises full refund

Go First suspended flights booked till 28 May for operational concerns on Friday. It stated that a complete refund would be granted to the original means of payment in the near future.

The company said in a tweet “We acknowledge the flight cancellations might have disrupted your travel plans and we are committed to providing all the assistance we can.”
This comes just a day after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gave the cash-strapped airline 30 days to submit a restructuring or revival plan, including fleet, pilot, and maintenance plans. The low-cost carrier ceased operations on May 3 and is currently facing voluntary insolvency procedures before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The aviation regulator’s order came after the airline responded to the DGCA’s show cause notice issued on May 8.
According to a DGCA official quoted in an IANS story, the airline has requested that the moratorium period be used to draught a detailed reorganization plan for restarting operations.
“They will present it to the DGCA for the requisite regulatory approvals before restarting operations,” said the official.
