Gehlot’s bold move to create new districts overshadows Opposition

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has silenced the opposition by issuing a notification for the creation of 19 new districts and three new divisions in the state. Gehlot’s move is being seen as a significant trump card ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The formation of new districts and divisions will pose challenges for the BJP, which is already on the backfoot due to the growing popularity of Gehlot’s welfare schemes. Experts believe that the Congress will directly benefit in assembly seats falling under these new districts. The creation of new districts will also lead to an increase in employment opportunities for the common people.
Despite being actively involved in his duties from his residence due to a leg injury for a month now, Gehlot appears more confident about the Congress’ victory in the upcoming assembly elections. After the Supreme Court stayed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi, Gehlot stated that everything is moving in the right direction, and Congress will return to power in Rajasthan.
He mentioned that the Centre, which was nervous after Bharat Jodo Yatra, conspired against Rahul Gandhi and cancelled his Lok Sabha membership. However, today, this conspiracy has been exposed after the apex court’s order. Gehlot highlighted that it was the first defamation case in the history of independent India where a two-year sentence was awarded without any solid reason. But in the end, the truth prevailed, he added.
Gehlot also lambasted the BJP for spreading misinformation about his leg injury, terming it as fake. Chief Minister Gehlot had fractures in both his legs simultaneously. He said the BJP is spreading lies, claiming that “I have my legs plastered without any injury as I am planning to win elections sitting on a wheelchair like Mamata Banerjee.”
Taking a swipe at the BJP’s plan to fight the polls banking on PM Narendra Modi’s face, Gehlot said that Modi is ‘an international leader’ and also ‘a vishwaguru’. “Why is the BJP bringing him to Rajasthan? Does the BJP have no able leader who could lead it here?” Gehlot asked. He further remarked that there are so many leaders in the BJP who are fighting for the Chief Minister’s post. One of them is Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who, along with his family, is allegedly involved in the Sanjeevani scam.
Gehlot reiterated that his government was saved neither by Vasundhara Raje nor by Kailash Meghwal. His statements show his strong criticism of the BJP’s tactics and leadership choices, and he appears confident in his party’s performance in the upcoming elections.
