Varanasi, the Parliament Constitution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get a major infrastructure boost today as PM will lay the foundation stone for projects spanning key sectors, including infrastructure, education, health, electricity, tourism, and environment, with a package worth around ₹2,200 crore.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “For my family members in Kashi, tomorrow, August 2, is a very special day. Around 11 in the morning, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to education, health, sports, tourism, and connectivity. On this occasion, I will also have the privilege of releasing the 20th instalment of PM-Kisan.”

Expansion of the road and connectivity infrastructure will be a key highlight of the visit of PM Modi. PM Modi will inaugurate major road widening projects, including the Varanasi-Bhadohi Road and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar Road, along with a new railway overbridge at Hardattpur to reduce congestion.
He will also lay the foundation stone for multiple corridors and overbridges at Lahartara-Kotwa, Dalmandi, Gangapur, and Babatpur, and over Level Crossings 22C and Khalispur Yard.
In the electricity sector, he will unveil works worth ₹880 crore under the Smart Distribution Project, which includes the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure to modernise and stabilise the power supply.
Tourism and cultural heritage will receive a significant facelift. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the redevelopment of eight riverfront ghats, work at Kalika Dham, beautification of Rangildas Kutiya, and water restoration at Durgakund.
PM Modi will lay the foundation for restoration work at Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, the redevelopment of freedom fighters’ birthplace in Karkhiyaon, and the upgradation of Munshi Premchand's ancestral home and museum in Lamahi. He will also announce new City Facility Centres in Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar Zones.
As part of sustainable development, Modi will lay the foundation stone for an Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur, beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 parks, and water purification at Ramkund, Mandakini, and other kunds. PM Modi will also inaugurate 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, ensuring clean water access in nearby villages.
He will also inaugurate the upgradation of 53 school buildings, including the foundation stone for a new district library, as well as revitalised government high schools in Jakhini and Lalpur.
Additionally, a new Homoeopathic College and Hospital, Animal Birth Control Centre, and Dog Care Centre will also be launched.
