From Patna to Maharastra, nation marks 77th Republic Day

NEW DELHI: Leaders across the country marked the 77th Republic Day on Monday by unfurling the National Flag and paying tribute to the Constitution, freedom fighters, and the democratic spirit of India.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday unfurled the National Flag at his official residence in Patna on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day. Afterwards, CM Nitish arrived at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna to participate in the Republic Day celebrations, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, along with Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, also participated in the celebrations at the venue. “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of Republic Day,” CM Nitish posted on X.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday unfurled the national flag on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day in Jaipur, paying tribute to those who contributed to the freedom movement and highlighting the significance of the Indian Constitution. At the event, the CM greeted the people of Rajasthan and said, “Extend greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Republic Day. On this day in 1950, our Constitution came into effect. India’s Constitution is the longest written Constitution in the world, and we are all bound by that Constitution. India is the largest democracy in the world. I pay tribute to all those who dedicated themselves to the freedom movement and brought the Constitution into effect.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Monday unfurled the national flag at the party headquarters in New Delhi on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day. Greeting the nation on the occasion, Nitin Nabin said that the day is marked by homage to the freedom fighters, the foresight of the framers of the Constitution, and the armed forces dedicated to the nation’s security. The BJP chief wrote on X, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all fellow citizens on the 77th Republic Day. Republic Day is a sacred occasion to pay homage to the immortal sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the foresight of the framers of the Constitution, and the indomitable courage of our armed forces dedicated to the nation’s security.”

On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday unfurled the National Flag at his residence, extended greetings, called the country “mother of democracy” and urged the citizens to contribute towards a self-reliant India. Speaking to the media, Chouhan said, “Wishing all countrymen a Happy Republic Day. India is the world’s largest democracy. India is the mother of democracy. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has embraced the principle of ‘of the people, by the people, for the people,’ a magnificent, glorious, prosperous, and developed India is being built. On this Republic Day, let us all resolve to contribute to building a developed and self-reliant India.”

On the occasion of Republic Day, several state chief ministers also participated in the unfurling of the national flag at their respective residences, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the Tricolour after he unfurled the National Flag at his residence in Lucknow, and highlighted the “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” resolve and constitution’s role in building the India we are witnessing today.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, during the celebration of the 77th Republic Day, unfurled the national flag.

Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar read out the Marathi translation of the Governor’s Republic Day Message. In his speech, the Chief Minister said that the Indian Constitution is the world’s finest constitution and paid tribute to all the great individuals who contributed to its creation. He said that guided by the Constitution, Maharashtra is today moving forward as the engine of the country’s development.
