Committing a new scam in new clothes, Fraudsters have now made PNG (Piped natural gas) as their outlet for carrying out scams. Just recently, Indraprastha Gas limited has issued an alert to customers.
In this new fraud, the fraudsters tend to call the customers and threaten, that they’ll cut their gas supply, if they don’t pay this huge bill.
Usually, a fraudulent customer service number is present these interactions. And when a consumer calls another consumer, they are forced to do an online payment.
Moreover, the customers also receive calls from bogus IGL person, who intimidates customers if bill isn’t paid.
Meanwhile Taking to X, Indraprastha has given a warning and said ‘Attention IGL PNG Customers! Be alert for fraudulent calls and messages claiming to be from Indraprastha Gas Limited. These scams often request you to download an app or click on links for bill payments, sometimes threatening service disconnection. #Fraudalert.’
In order to save yourself from these types of scams, first be calm & composed, if you have given the bill.
Second, Look for Grammatical error in the message and see if there is any mistake in punctuation, as official messages do not possess such errors.
Most importantly, Do not call the number mentioned in the message. In case of making payment, visit IGL website directly.
