Former minister in the BRS government Jupally Krishna Rao, ex-MLA Gurunatha Reddy, and other influential leaders from Telangana have officially joined the Congress party. The move is expected to give a significant boost to the party in the upcoming assembly polls in the southern state.
The Congress party is gearing up to mount a formidable challenge against the K Chandrashekar Rao-led government and aims to dislodge it from power. The party leadership believes that the political tide in Telangana is shifting, as demonstrated by these prominent figures’ move to join the Congress.
Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, welcoming the new members, expressed his optimism about the state’s political transformation. He stated on Twitter, “The political tide in Telangana is turning for the good and the people of the state want a Congress government at the helm for overall progress and prosperity.”
Kharge further added, “The entry of Former Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Former MLA Gurunatha Reddy, K R Nagaraju, and other grassroots leaders into the Congress party, shall further strengthen our endeavour to provide true social welfare in the state.”
The occasion saw the presence of key Congress leaders, including Telangana Congress chief A Revanth Reddy, AICC in-charge of the state Manikrao Thakre, and AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal.
Earlier plans for Jupally Krishna Rao to join the Congress during a public meeting with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had to be postponed twice due to unfavourable weather conditions.
