The torrential flooding situation has worsened in certain districts of Telangana with Adilabad and Nirmal being among the most affected areas. Continuous rain in the upper catchment areas of Telangana, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh has triggered very high inflows into the reservoirs, which are inundating the lower areas.
Almost discharging 4.3 lakh cusecs downstream, the now almost full Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) at 1091 feet is further adding up to the already risen levels of Godavari.
Under pressure from inflows of over 6.8 lakh cusecs and storage almost at capacity, the Sripada Yellampalli Project is also discharging its flow. In the Nirmal district, alarming levels in the Gaddenna Vagu Project forced the authorities to operate the crest gates and release about 20,500 cusecs.

Roads from settlements like Basar to Sarangapur were washed away and cutting off several hamlets. Rivers and streams like Swarna Vagu are in spate, isolating villages and damaging connectivity.
Flooding wreaked havoc in agricultural fields along the Godavari River and its tributaries, posing a major threat to standing crops and harvests. At Kaleshwaram, the Pushkar Ghats are nearly inundated, with a water level of 12.5 meters well above the first warning mark and nearing danger levels.

From across the river in the Triveni Sangamam, the viewing floodwaters invaded private lodges and farms. The Medigadda barrage under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is currently discharging nearly 9.7 lakh cusecs with all 85 crest gates open.
With the Manjira River still swelling, flood alerts were sounded across several districts, including Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Sangareddy. The villages of Bodhan mandal are already facing floods from the Nizam Sagar project releases. Relief camps stand established in Adilabad, Nirmal, and Bhadradri Kothagudem while flood control rooms are operational 24/7.
District officials, including the Collector have been inspecting vulnerable sites such as Basara bridge and assuring citizens that precautionary measures are in place. The authorities have urged people to remain alert and assist in ongoing rescue efforts, with the Godavari still in full spate.
