In a picturesque turn of weather, Razdan Top in the Bandipora district of Jammu & Kashmir received its first light snowfall of the season this evening. This beautiful mountain pass was covered with fresh snow, bringing the arrival of winter in the region, much loved by nature lovers and trekkers for its serene beauty and panoramic views.
Local authorities report that even though not heavy, the snowfall had left a white layer of charm across all rugged terrain as winter wonderland transformed Razdan Top. As reported by local circles, light snowfalls plummeted the region’s temperatures, marking an early onset of winter. Change in weather is likely to attract tourists who would seek the very first glimpses of snow for this season in the Kashmir valley.
“Razdan Top, which is at a height of roughly 11,500 feet, is said to be very scenic and is considered as a gateway to Gurez Valley,” claimed a local official, adding that though the snowfall has been relatively mild of late, people living in the valley and tourists are advised to be alert as roads may become slippery at places. Authorities are keeping an eye on the weather and are ready for any road maintenance in case the snowfall continues.
Snowfall at Razdan Top also invigorated local residents, who feel that the region would benefit through snow-fed rivers and water bodies as agriculture and ecosystems depend a lot on them.
