Solar Industries, through its subsidiary Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), has successfully delivered the first indigenously developed Loitering Munition, Nagastra-1, to the Indian Army. This follows an order placed under Emergency Procurement Powers for 480 units.
The Nagastra-1, designed as a UAV-based system, functions uniquely with the ability to abort missions and return safely. Named for its loitering capability, it hovers above targets and, in “Kamikaze mode,” delivers precise strikes with GPS accuracy up to 2 meters.
Operating at altitudes over 4,500 meters, the Nagastra–1 remains undetectable by radar, making it ideal for strategic operations. It features a fixed-wing electric UAV with 60 minutes of endurance and dual operational modes covering ranges of up to 30km.
Equipped with day-night surveillance capabilities and a specialized warhead, the Nagastra–1 excels in targeting soft-skin vehicles. Its unique capability to abort missions and recover via parachute distinguishes it as a leading innovation in its class.
The development marks a significant milestone in India’s defense capabilities, showcasing advanced indigenous technology to meet strategic security needs effectively.
