Fire erupts in New Delhi-Darbhanga Humsafar Express near Etawah

A distressing event occurred when Coach S-1 of Train No. 02570, the Humsafar Express en route from New Delhi to Darbhanga, caught fire near Sarai Bhupat Railway Station in Etawah.
Three coaches of the New Delhi-Darbhanga Special Express were damaged after a fire broke out in the train near Etawah in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening, according to officials.
The fire originated from an explosion in a cylinder and prompted an immediate response to halt rail traffic. This action was taken swiftly to manage the situation effectively and prioritise the safety of both passengers and railway personnel.
Initial reports from Etawah indicate that a minimum of 8 passengers sustained injuries in the fire and were subsequently transferred to a hospital for medical attention.
It has been reported that the train had an excess of passengers beyond its designated capacity. Several passengers jumped from the train to save their lives.
Efforts are being made to douse the blaze,” Etawah SP Sanjai Kumar said.
“Ambulances and a team of doctors are present at the spot. Injured passengers, if any, will be provided proper medical care,” he said.
According to officials, when the train was passing through the Sarai Bhupat station, the station master noticed smoke in the sleeper coach.
Upon noticing the smoke, the station master took immediate action by alerting the train driver and guard, leading to the halting of the train. Following this, passengers were safely evacuated from the affected sleeper coach. As the fire broke out, some passengers opted to exit the train swiftly. Sources suggest that the number of passengers exceeded the train’s capacity.
