A massive fire broke out at The Drunch – All Day Café on Park Street in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Nine fire tenders and a disaster management team were deployed to control the blaze.
The fire started around 10:50 am, but no casualties were reported.
Thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the two-story building.
Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose confirmed the fire was under control, but the cooling-off process continued. The cause will be determined after a forensic investigation, and authorities will check if the restaurant followed safety regulations.
Nearby offices and restaurants, including 1000 BC, AMPM, Seoul Story, and Barbeque Nation, were evacuated and closed for the day.
