‘False and baseless’: JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal denies rape allegations

Accused of raping a 30-year-old model in Mumbai, billionaire Sajjan Jindal vehemently denies the grave charge, branding the allegations as “false and baseless.” In a statement issued personally, Jindal expressed his commitment to providing full cooperation to law enforcement agencies throughout the investigation into the allegations.
The accuser, identified as an actor on social media, claimed to have met 64-year-old Jindal at a cricket match in Dubai several years ago, resulting in a friendship. She accused the industrialist of raping her in January 2022 within the confines of the JSW Group’s headquarters, further alleging that Jindal promised to marry her.
The FIR, registered on December 13, cites sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Jindal’s statement emphasized the allegations’ lack of merit and urged media outlets to respect the privacy of his family. “As the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from commenting further at this stage,” the statement concluded.
The accuser recounted their interactions, mentioning meetings at Jindal Mansion in south Mumbai and a subsequent drive before the alleged rape.
She claimed Jindal had been avoiding her since the incident, asserting that the crime occurred in the penthouse at the company’s headquarters in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex.
According to the complainant, the relationship took a distressing turn after they met in Dubai on October 21 and attended a politician’s son’s wedding. She revealed that Jindal had shown interest in purchasing property from her brother, a real estate consultant in Dubai.
The complainant expressed discomfort with Jindal’s inappropriate behavior, citing terms like ‘babe’ and ‘baby’ and his disclosure of marital issues during their initial meeting. She highlighted her rejection of a physical relationship until marriage.
In her account, she detailed the alleged rape in January 2022 and claimed that Jindal issued threats in June 2022 before blocking her number to deter her from involving the police.
