Kathua, April 03: Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Lok Sabha elections, enforcement teams in Kathua District have undertaken significant operations resulting in the seizure of a substantial amount of cash and liquor.
Operating diligently across Kathua, the enforcement teams intercepted and confiscated Rs. 51.54 lakh rupees in cash, coupled with liquor valued at Rs. 39.63 lakh, bringing the total amount of seizures to Rs. 91.18 lakh.
These decisive actions underscore a collective commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and upholding the principles of fair and transparent elections.
Emphasizing the importance of these proactive measures, the District Election Officer of Kathua, who also serves as the Returning Officer for the 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, reaffirmed the unwavering dedication of the enforcement teams. “We are continuously working to swiftly and resolutely identify and rectify any breaches of the model code of conduct,” he stated.
Efforts such as these are crucial in deterring illicit activities that have the potential to undermine the democratic process. By promptly addressing and mitigating any instances of malpractice or violation, the administration aims to ensure that voters can exercise their rights without any external influence or coercion.
