In a puzzling incident, a village in Karnataka witnessed the mysterious deaths of 12 chickens, followed by a bizarre occurrence where their bodies appeared to emit flames when pressed. A viral video of the event shows lifeless chickens lying on the ground, with smoke rising from their bodies.

The clip features a person pressing the abdomen of a chicken, causing what seems like fire to emerge from its mouth. The video, which quickly gained traction online, was shared with claims that applying pressure to the chickens’ bodies triggered the phenomenon. However, HT.com was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.

The incident reportedly took place on December 18 in Hadige village, Sakleshpur, Karnataka, according to a report by Udayavani. The chickens belonged to a villager named Ravi, who found them dead under unexplained circumstances.

The video has garnered over 17 million views on X, sparking a flurry of stunned reactions and debates about its authenticity. While some questioned whether the footage was genuine or fabricated, others speculated about the possible causes of the phenomenon.

One user on X theorised, “Wondering whether the chickens might have ingested some form of toxic substance that could cause an exothermic reaction when their bodies were manipulated. There have been instances where chemicals, perhaps mistakenly or intentionally introduced into poultry feed, have led to unusual outcomes.” Another commenter suggested, “The phenomenon of chickens emitting fire could be linked to a reaction involving gases or chemicals within the dead birds’ bodies, especially if pressure was applied.”

Not everyone was convinced, with one user stating, “I don’t know if it’s real or not.”

Ravi, the owner of the chickens, has appealed to authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. Udayavani reported that he hopes to uncover the cause behind the mysterious deaths and the strange occurrence that followed.
