The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at 13 locations in Punjab’s Ropar district in connection with an illegal mining case, officials said on Wednesday. The raids, carried out by ED teams based in Jalandhar, are still ongoing.
According to officials, the illegal mining activities were taking place on land that had been seized by the ED in connection with the Bhola drug case, which is currently being tried before the Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court.
The investigation has identified several individuals and entities involved in the illegal mining operations, including Nasibchand, a well-known figure in the mining mafia, and Shree Ram Stone Crushers.
During the searches, the ED has recovered a total of Rs 3 crore, officials reported.
