ED Detains Congress MLA Surender Panwar In Mining Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained Haryana Congress MLA Surender Panwar in connection with an illegal mining case. Panwar’s arrest occurred two days after the central agency searched the home of Mahendragarh Congress MLA Rao Dan Singh.

Panwar, a Sonipat MLA, manages mining interests in Haryana and Rajasthan. His kid was also detained for interrogation by the ED team that arrived at his home on Saturday morning.

The ED is looking into many First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by the Haryana Police about illicit mining in Yamunanagar, Sonipat, and other areas.

ED raided Panwar’s apartment in January as well in Sonipat’s Sector 15 as well as many places associated with former Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA Dilbag Singh. During these searches, the ED seized Rs 5 crore in cash, foreign-made guns, and 300 cartridges.

According to ED sources, additional damning documents showing potential money laundering were also discovered at Panwar’s apartment, prompting his detention.
