New Year celebrations in Uttarakhand took a disturbing turn in Kotdwar when an inebriated biker went on a rampage, causing chaos on the streets. A viral video shared by the official X handle of the Uttarakhand Pauri Garhwal police captures the incident. The biker, later identified as Vivek Bisht from Gharat, was seen ramming his bike into several vehicles and injuring pedestrians along Patel Marg.
Local authorities received numerous complaints and soon reached the site. However, Bisht offered resistance to being taken into custody and hurled abuses at not only the crowd but also police personnel. Bisht broke the rear glass of a police van in a bid to challenge the arrests. Kotdwar Station Officer Ramesh Tanwar stated that Bisht was arrested, and a case was filed against him under different sections, including causing damage to public property.
The video of the incident has gone viral, and reactions on social media are very sharp. One of the users wrote, “The police should definitely give him the kind of ‘special treatment’ that ensures his next drink is a lifetime supply of regret.” Another comment was, “The cops must be thinking, Just get him to the Police station, that’s it!
