The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully carried out a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles from the coast of Odisha. The test took place at around 10:30 AM as part of user evaluation trials.

Both missiles were launched in quick succession from the same launcher and followed their planned flight paths. They met all the goals set for the mission.

DRDO shared the achievement on X along with a picture of the launch. In its post, DRDO said, “Salvo lunch of two Pralay Missile in quick succession from same launcher were successfully conducted today from ITR, Chandipur. The flight test was conducted as part of User evaluation trials. Both the missiles followed the intended trajectory meeting all flight objectives.”

What Is the Pralay Missile?

The Pralay missile is an indigenously developed, solid-fuel, quasi-ballistic missile. It is known for its high accuracy and modern guidance and navigation systems.

It can carry different types of warheads and can strike multiple kinds of targets, making it a key part of India’s growing defence power.

Missile Launch Conducted from Odisha

The missiles were fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha. DRDO said both missiles moved exactly along their planned routes.

Tracking sensors closely watched the flight and confirmed that the missiles stayed on the correct path.

How the Missiles Were Tracked

The final stage of the missile flight was monitored using telemetry systems placed on a ship near the impact area. These systems confirmed that the missiles hit their targets and completed all mission goals successfully.

Teamwork Behind the Successful Test

Several DRDO laboratories took part in the test, including the Research Centre Imarat, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, and Advanced Systems Laboratory.

The missile systems were assembled with the help of Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, which are DRDO’s production partners.

Top Officials Present During the Test

Senior DRDO scientists, along with officials from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, and representatives from industry partners, were present to witness the missile launch.
