Telangana stands at the brink of a political transition with the impending inauguration of Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister under the Congress government. A significant pledge from their election manifesto is the introduction of an annual job calendar, with the first job in Telangana earmarked for a disabled woman.
The origins of this commitment can be traced back to October when TPCC president Revanth Reddy personally assured Rajini, a disabled woman from Nampally, Hyderabad, that she would be the inaugural beneficiary of this employment initiative upon the party assuming power. Despite holding postgraduate qualifications, Rajini shared her struggles with employment, prompting Revanth Reddy to empathise and, importantly, guarantee the Congress government’s support. A unique Congress guarantee card was issued in Rajini’s name to solidify this commitment.
As Revanth Reddy prepares to take the oath as Chief Minister today, an invitation has been extended to Rajini to attend the swearing-in ceremony. The anticipation is high that, true to the promise made, she will be offered the inaugural job shortly after the oath-taking ceremony.
This commitment not only signifies the Congress party’s dedication to job creation but also underscores their emphasis on inclusivity and support for the marginalised communities. As Revanth Reddy assumes leadership in Telangana, this initiative stands as a tangible step towards realising their electoral promises and fostering a more equitable society.
