Devotees Nationwide Celebrate Janmashtami With Chants And Prayers

During the Janmashtami festival, devotees gathered at temples nationwide to seek Lord Krishna’s blessings on his birth anniversary, with political leaders such as Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel offering their respects. On Tuesday, devotees thronged temples across northern and eastern India to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birth on Janmashtami, filling the air with chants of ‘Hare Krishna’ and forming long queues.

In Mathura, special prayers were held at the Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple for Krishna Janmashtami. In Karnataka, special prayers took place at Bengaluru’s ISKCON temple. At Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, also known as Birla Temple, aarti was performed to mark Shri Krishna Janmashtami. In Odisha, special prayers were conducted at the ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar. In Ajmer, Rajasthan, special prayers and celebrations were organised at Ajmer’s ISKCON temple. Additionally, people gathered at the ISKCON Temple in Hyderabad for Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan offered prayers at Bhopal’s ISKCON temple. In Kolkata, aarti was conducted at the ISKCON temple. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel prayed at Ahmedabad’s ISKCON Temple. Shri Krishna Janmashtami was also celebrated at Shri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math Temple in Chandigarh, Sector 20. In Jaipur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma offered prayers at the ISKCON temple. In Noida, Uttar Pradesh, “chappan bhog” was offered as prasad at the ISKCON Temple for Krishna Janmashtami 2024.

The sound of bells and conch shells filled Mathura, reflecting the devotion and excitement for Shri Krishna Janmashtami. The festival, celebrated nationwide on August 26 this year, saw devotees fasting and decorating temples and homes with flowers, diyas, and lights.
