Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) on Tuesday morning. The downpour brought much-needed relief from the hot and humid weather during the festive season.

Rainfall Across Delhi NCR

Apart from Delhi, areas in Noida and Ghaziabad also received heavy showers. Strong winds were followed by continuous rain, changing the city’s weather conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. Light rain or drizzle is also expected in Delhi and nearby regions.

Relief and Trouble Together

The rain brought cooler weather but also caused problems for commuters. Several roads in the capital were waterlogged. The Zakhira underpass was among the areas badly affected, making it difficult for vehicles to pass.

Airlines Issue Travel Advisory

The sudden downpour also raised concerns for passengers travelling by air. Airlines issued advisories asking travellers to plan extra time for their journey.

IndiGo Airlines said flight operations could face delays due to heavy rainfall.

“Persistent rainfall and thunderstorms are currently affecting #Delhi, leading to possible delays in flight operations. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation to ensure your journey resumes as soon as conditions improve,” IndiGo wrote on X.

It added, “If you're travelling today, we recommend checking your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Please also allow for additional travel time, as road conditions may be slower than usual. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. Your comfort and safety remain our top priority.”

Air India also issued an alert. It said flights to and from Delhi might be affected due to the weather. The airline asked passengers to check flight status online and allow more time for road travel.

Delhi Airport Updates

The Delhi Airport Authority released an advisory at 11:56 am. It said flight operations were running normally as of now. It also mentioned that ground staff were working with all stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
