As temperatures soar across much of India, groundwater levels are plummeting, exacerbating the already severe water scarcity in many regions. This situation recently unfolded dramatically in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area, where a startling video captured locals chasing after and even climbing onto a moving water tanker in desperate attempts to access water.
The video, initially shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by news agency ANI, depicts a chaotic scene in Chanakyapuri’s Vivekananda Camp. As the water tanker slowed down, people rushed towards it with buckets and pipes, some even climbing onto the tanker to insert their pipes directly into it without waiting for it to stop.
The footage quickly went viral, garnering widespread attention and leaving netizens stunned by the desperation and potential risks involved. Concerns were raised about the safety hazards created by such chaotic scenes around water tankers.
ANI’s caption accompanying the video highlighted the ongoing water crisis in the National Capital, stating, “Delhi: People queue up near a water tanker to fill water in Chanakyapuri’s Vivekananda Camp as water crisis continues in the National Capital.” The video has since amassed over 374K views, underscoring the gravity of the water scarcity issue and the extreme measures people are resorting to amid the crisis.
