Delhi University will unveil its first undergraduate seat allotment list today at 5 PM, bringing to close the anxiety-filled wait of over a million aspirants. The announcement follows the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) Phase 2 for UG 2025’s successful conclusion. Candidates who receive a seat in this round will have until July 21 to accept their offer via the official DU admission portal.

DU Receives Highest Number of Applications

This year has rewritten the university’s admission records. With 71,642 UG seats spread across 79 programs, 69 colleges, and various departments, Delhi University received the highest number of applications in its history. The overwhelming response has made competition tighter than ever before.

Most Popular Programmes

The data highlights shifting student interests and aspirations. BCom (Hons) topped the list as the most popular program with a whopping 19,90,966 choices. This was followed by BCom (15,26,403), BA (Hons) English (12,23,388), and BA (Hons) Political Science (9,96,868).

When it comes to first-preference picks—indicating students’ absolute top choice—BCom (Hons) again led the way with 48,336 students choosing it as their primary course. It was followed by BA (Hons) Political Science (15,295), BSc (Hons) Zoology (12,722), BTech in Mathematics and Humanities (10,584), and BCom (8,939).

SRCC is at the top of the College Preference Wars charts.

The Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) received the highest first-preference applications of any college, with an incredible 38,795 entries. Hindu College (31,901), Hansraj College (15,902), Miranda House (11,403), followed by St. Stephen’s College (12,413).

Combinations of BA Programs: Multidisciplinary Options in High Demand

Students in the BA Program category demonstrated a keen interest in matching multidisciplinary subjects. The most popular choice was BA (History + Political Science), with 7,60,233 choices.
It was followed by BA (Economics + Political Science) (3,88,407) and BA (English + Economics) (3,49,367).

The Humanities Lead

According to student choices, the humanities was the most popular stream, with 58.89% selecting arts-based courses. 20.22 percent of applicants were drawn to science, while 20.89 percent were drawn to commerce. The data indicates a shift in culture away from STEM exclusivity and toward more socially conscious and interdisciplinary fields.

ECA Trials Kick Off, Sports to Begin July 25

Parallel to academic admissions, DU’s Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) trials began on July 18 and will continue until July 26. These trials are being held across colleges and include over a dozen categories like music, dance, debate, theater, yoga, digital media, and fine arts. Sub-categories allow judges to evaluate students on specific skill sets. On the first day, trials were held for Hindi debate and Indian vocal music.

Meanwhile, sports trials for performance-based admissions are expected to start from July 25. Admissions under ECA, Sports, and CW (Children/Widows of Armed Forces Personnel) categories will commence from the third round of seat allocations.

Simulated Ranks and Preference Revisions

To bring more transparency into the process, DU had released simulated ranks on July 15—a tentative ranking system based on students’ CUET scores and program preferences.
